We're delighted to announce that our writing team has expanded! Last month we were joined on a full-time basis by Walt Ciechanowski and Ken Spencer.
Ken and Walt will be familiar names to Cubicle 7 fans - Walt has previously written extensively for Doctor Who Roleplaying Game and heads up the Victoriana team. Ken is the designer and lead writer for Rocket Age, and has written for The One Ring, World War Cthulhu and Lone Wolf Adventure Game.
Cubicle 7 CEO Dominic McDowall:
"It's great to welcome Walt and Ken on board. They're both fantastic writers, with vision and experience. I'm truly excited to see where this extra capacity takes us in 2016. You'll no doubt be aware that we have a lot of amazing projects on hand right now, and having Ken and Walt on hand to help us realise those is excellent news for both Cubicle 7 and our customers"
Walt Ciechanowski had this to say:
"I am absolutely thrilled to be able to say that I’m now a staff writer for Cubicle 7 Entertainment! My relationship with the company goes back almost a decade, when I began writing for Victoriana and running events at Gen Con. Dom, Jon, and the rest of the C7 gang really made me feel like part of the team even while I continued freelancing and to finally be given the opportunity to work with them full-time is both humbling and exciting!
Cubicle 7 has an incredible selection of games, whether it’s travelling through space and time in a police box, trekking over and through the Misty Mountains, facing down Cthulhu in a tank, or chasing down eldritch horrors over the cobblestones in a hansom. For a guy who remembers his ‘tween’ self excitedly reading The Hobbit beneath the Christmas tree and staying up late and suffering through pledge drives to see the Doctor resolve his latest adventure working with Cubicle 7 is a dream come true!
Since becoming an official part of the team we’ve already had one huge announcement that I feel lucky to be a part of and I’m even more excited for the future!"
"Nearly seven years ago I set out on a career writing role-playing games with a handful of goals in mind. Two of those goals were to write something worthy of an award and earn a full time staff position with a major company. In 2014 I received an ENNie for Rocket Age, published by Cubicle 7. Achievement complete, career on track. This year I join the Cubicle 7 writing team as a full time staffer. Achievement complete, career ahead of schedule.
Why Cubicle 7? I have been freelancing with them for years now and I have learned three things about the company that made me want to write for them full time. The people are great, Jon, Dom, Andrew, TS, Nick, and Walt are not just fine folks to work with, and they are great people to spend time with. The work they do is top notch; I couldn't want to be associated with better games than The One Ring, Doctor Who Role-Playing, or World War Cthulhu. Most importantly, Cubicle 7 is a game company that always keeps in mind that everyone is invited to the fun; an attitude that I feel is central to role-playing as a community, a hobby, and an industry."
We'd all like to wish both Ken and Walt a hearty welcome, and we look forward to reading their work in new Cubicle 7 titles!
