There's just one day left to take of our massive summer blockbuster sale on all physical items over at our webstore.
But with so much great stuff on offer, how do you know what to pick? To help, we asked some of the Cubicle 7 team to pick their favourite books. Today, Andrew Kenrick picks his favourite book: The Eighth Doctor Sourcebook.
Andrew: “Everyone has their Doctor, the one who was on TV when they were growing up, the one they always look back with a certain misty-eyed fondness for. Mine was the Eighth Doctor – Paul McGann. His tenure was brief; which is what made his return in Night of the Doctor such a delight. And yet, the Eighth Doctor being my Doctor is not the reason I’m recommending you pick up The Eighth Doctor Sourcebook.
As well as comprehensively covering both The TV Movie and Night of the Doctor, discussing playing in the Time War and Millennial Earth, The Eighth Doctor Sourcebook also includes a complete campaign – Doom of the Daleks – that contains some simply brilliant adventures, each one evoking the feel of a different incarnation. They’re all great fun, which makes it tricky to pick a single one as my favourite. It could be the Third Doctor-inspired Tendrils of Neox, complete with rickety spaceship set and the villain cleverly disguised by a fake beard. Or it could be The Matter of Silver, in which the companions skip over to the parallel universe from the Seventh Doctor episode Battlefield, and find themselves foretold as saviours who will defend the Castle of Crossed Destinies against a demonic foe (you can even download the complete adventure here). But actually I think it’s Ice, a real Tenth Doctor-style scenario where you join an archaeological expedition into the frozen ruins of a long-dead world – that of course turns out to be anything but dead!
So, not only complete write-ups of my favourite Doctor’s on-screen episodes, but also a fantastically fun campaign too, and one that I’m gearing up to run for the team one day soon.”
You can order The Eighth Doctor Sourcebook from our webstore, where it's currently 25% off in our Summer Salesplosion.
About The Eighth Doctor Sourcebook
Celebrating the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who, this Sourcebook explores the Eighth Doctor’s adventures on Earth and beyond. With detailed information on all the allies, enemies, aliens and gadgets that he encounters, as well as examining each of his adventures, the book contains a wealth of material for the Doctor Who: Adventures in Time and Space RPG, and is also a fact-packed resource for fans of the show!
After being shot in a gang war in San Francisco, the Doctor regenerates just in time to stop the Master one more time. His eighth incarnation had much to contend with, not least the Time War, during which he had a fateful encounter with the Sisterhood of Karn once more.
As well as detailing the Eighth Doctor’s adventures, this sourcebook also contains a complete campaign – Doom of the Daleks – that sees the Doctor’s deadliest foe erasing him from existence, forcing his companions into a race against time itself to save him!
