This week we twisted T.S. Luikart's arm to share his backstory and love of RPGs. In case you missed it, T.S. also chatted to the Old world Podcast recently about Warhammer: http://oldworldpodcast.com/index.php/2019/01/23/013/. If you plan on attending GenCon or Origins this year be sure to stop by and say hello to T.S.

It’s 3 a.m. on a school night and I’m staring, wide-eyed, at my startled Father, who stands, blurry-eyed, in my doorway. I’m in mid-jump, fine form, leaping up and down on my bed, yelling “Rohan! Rohan!” for the horns of the North were wildly blowing about dark Mindolluin’s sides and Rohan had come at last. My Father’s gaze dropped from mine to the copy of The Return of the King clutched tightly in my hands. He smiled slowly and shook his head. “It’s way past time for bed, Son.”

I was 7.

My name is T.S. Luikart and while that night may not have cemented my destiny, it’s no coincidence I wrote large parts of The One Ring’s The Horse-Lords of Rohanmany years after. I have been a roleplaying game designer for 26 years, a few highlights of which include Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 2nd Edition, Dark Heresy, the Dragon Age RPGfrom Green Ronin, Eclipse Phase, Tenra Bansho Zero, Golden Sky StoriesandShadow of the Demon Lordbefore coming to work for Cubicle 7 full time.

These days, I juggle a bit of global freight, help sort out customer orders and, oh yeah, write for The One Ring, Adventures in Middle-Earth, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 4thEdition (because working on one edition was just not enough), and the forthcoming Age of Sigmar Roleplaying Game. My job, in the end, is to serve as rigger, mummer, propmaster, and sage, so that you and yours can have your golden hours to roar across the stage, playing heroes, tyrants, and everything between. I’m very proud of the work we did on the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay Starter Set (I think it’s the greatest WFRP supplement I’ve worked on… so far) and can’t wait till you all have physical copies to play with!

As for me, I’m happily married with kids, the youngest of which turned 18 not too long ago here. I’ve been a GW miniatures fan for a long time indeed, and use painting as a way to relax. As I write this, some of my favourite Jes Goodwin Chaos champions are winking at me from a nearby shelf, and on the work bench is the start of a big project - my Mechanicum Questoris Knight Magaera. Her name is Fulmen Vult– a rough translation of which from the High Gothic might be “The Lightning Wills it”.

T.S. Luikart

The WFRP4 Errata addresses errors in the text of the core rule book, click here: WFRP Errata or on the image below to download. While it is essentially complete, we may update it slightly over the coming months. We have no plans to include the errata in any hard copies at present and we have also added it to DriveThruRPG for those who wish to download it there.

A future Q&A will address applications of the rules, and answer  specific questions with examples. We will update here and on social media once we have a definite date for this.

This week we want to introduce you to one of Cubicle 7's writers, Ben Scerri. As the team at Cubicle 7 expands we want to share news and updates from our writers, producers, editors, artists and more to give you an insight into how our games are developed and who's involved.

Hey folks! My name's Ben Scerri, and I write for Cubicle 7, tinkering away in the word mines to bring you new WFRP content. I've been involved in the Warhammer world since I was a kid, and learned to read with gusto so that I could soak in as many roleplaying games and gamebooks as I could get my tiny hands on. I started my Warhammer Fantasy Battles journey with Dark Elves, and went on to collect Dwarfs, and Orcs and Goblins later on. I also played a lot of Warhammer 40,000, where Craftworld Eldar and Salamanders Spacemarines were my flavour of choice.

Since then, I've been writing small roleplaying games and fan supplements for my favourite games, in between running at least one weekly campaign in my spare time. When not talking, thinking, or writing about Warhammer, I’m likely reading, hiking, sculpting, book binding, carving, or cooking. Pretty much any activity where I can make something with my hands is what I want to be doing, or failing that, learning about / searching for new materials to work with.

I’m overjoyed to be working with Cubicle 7, and getting my hands dirty with Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 4th Edition. Thus far, my proudest work for Cubicle 7 has been Adventure Afoot in the Reikland, as I loved putting so many untold stories into the Old World. I'm excited to hear what folks do with them. I'm also very excited for some of the content that's not yet ready for release... But more on that later!

Howdy folks,

My name is Emmet Byrne, I’m the Producer for Age of Sigmar, Adventures in Middle-earth and The One Ring here at Cubicle 7.

We’ve been a bit quiet on news for the Age of Sigmar Roleplaying Game (AoSRPG if you’re fancy), so I wanted to let everyone know we are working on it steadily behind the scenes. While I can’t give away too much now, I will have some big news to share in the coming weeks.

What I can say is that the AoSRPG will have a brand new rules system built from the ground up to reflect roleplaying in the Mortal Realms. The system uses d6 dice pools and players will choose from Archetypes during character creation. One of our key goals is to make the system accessible to new players so we have built "Archetypes" to choose from during character creation. These give you more focused starting options in order to make it less daunting for new players, but after that the game opens up completely as you explore and advance. We’ll be starting with the forces of Order, but we have plans for more "unconventional" heroes in future products.

All updates will be posted here on our blog, on Cubicle 7's platforms and you can also find me on twitter @Emmetation where I share some of my wandering thoughts as we write and develop the game. The folks on the Ratcatcher’s Guild (the Warhammer Fantasy Discord) have also been kind enough to create the "aosrpg" room for us in there.

All the best

The WFRP Starter Set contains everything needed to bring the grim and perilous world of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay to life. Whether roleplaying for the first time or preparing for your next epic campaign, this box is for you.

With over a hundred pages of adventures, rules, and setting, as well as maps, handouts, custom dice from Q WORKSHOP, Advantage tokens, rules references, ready-made Characters, a simple GM Screen, and more, this boxed set is the perfect starting point for anyone interested in WFRP.

The Adventure Book

The Adventure Book invites players of all experience levels into the rich, roleplaying playground of Ubersreik. For beginners, the starter adventure, Making the Rounds, introduces the harsh realities of life in the troubled fortress-town and takes you step-by-step through the rules. For more experienced hands, there are 10 scenarios aimed to expand your WFRP games, offering new locations, new characters, and new horrors to uncover.

Coming in at 40 pages, The Adventure Book is the ideal launching point for any new campaign, and can keep your WFRP group busy for several months.

A Guide to Ubersreik

The 64-page A Guide to Ubersreik highlights the bloody history and recent invasion of Ubersreik, examines more than 70 locations in the troubled town, details the surrounding fiefdoms, and introduces a wide array of antagonist cults at large in the area.

In addition, each entry comes with two adventure hooks, meaning every location, character, and political pitfall the book presents has examples of how to use them on your games of WFRP. Just using the scores of adventure hooks alone, there are potentially years of play on offer, it also presents Bestiary entries, potions, and even a new disease making A Guide to Ubersreik an essential addition to any WFRP library.
