One of the questions we’ve been asked the most since announcing the second edition of Doctor Who: The Card Game is whether the cards from the new edition can be combined with the old edition, so we thought we’d answer that in today’s post!
As you can see from the cards above, we’ve taken the opportunity with the new edition to update the card backs with new designs incorporating the current Doctor Who logo. What this means, of course, is that the card backs don’t match the card backs from the first edition.
But don’t let this stop you from shuffling the two editions together, either to make one über-deck, or by cherry picking your favourite cards from both sets. The way the game and the cards are played remains the same, so cards from both editions can be played side by side, and knowing whether a card comes from first or second edition doesn’t provide anyone with an advantage in game.
This allows you to create some great combinations in the game, to capture the feel of even more of your favourite episodes. Another of our favourite episodes is Victory of the Daleks, from series 5, which you can recreate using the London, 1941 and Daleks card from the original set, alongside the Daleks and Ironsides cards from the new set!
