And we're off! – our Kickstarter campaign for Cthulhu Tales is now live!

Cthulhu Tales is a brilliant, creepy story telling card game of the Cthulhu Mythos, designed by Francesco Nepitello and Marco Maggi.

Those of you familiar with our other story telling card game, Hobbit Tales, may recognise some of the core mechanic, but the rules for Cthuhu Tales have been considerably developed, giving it a unique Mythos feel.

We're planning a very straightforward Kickstarter campaign. We love a twenty product extravaganza as much as the next gamer, but we also increasingly appreciate nice simple campaigns with a clear goal and a handful of pledge levels. Happily, that's what we felt we needed for Cthulhu Tales.

To get you started the game rulebook is available to download over at the Kickstarter page.

In relating the circumstances which have led to my confinement within this refuge for the demented, I am aware that my present position will create a natural doubt of the authenticity of my narrative.
– The Tomb, by H.P. Lovecraft

The early 20th century. New England, America. Lovecraft country.

Home to university libraries filled with worm-eaten tomes, legend-haunted towns populated with degenerate locals and their rustic superstitions, Cyclopean ruins from long-forgotten aeons, and the disquieting glimpses of things from beyond…

You are the unwilling guests of an antiquated sanatorium, perhaps the infamous Arkham Sanatorium, or maybe the Danvers State Asylum.

Your only hope of escape is to convince the sanatorium authorities, and perhaps yourself, that you do not belong here. And so you begin to explain the sinister series of events that led to your unjust incarceration.

Unfortunately, your memories are populated by the stuff of nightmares…

The Cubicle 7 team is expanding! Sam Manley is joining us full time as a staff artist.

Sam is no stranger to Cubicle 7 titles, having worked on The One Ring Roleplaying Game, Doctor Who Card Game, The Laundry RPG, Cthulhu Britannica London Boxed Set and more. Beyond C7 he's worked for Fantasy Flight Games, Paizo, and many more.

Creative Director, Jon Hodgson:
“Sam is a highly skilled artist, whose work fits very neatly with the Cubicle 7 aesthetic. He's been a reliable and intelligent contributor to many of our games, including The One Ring Roleplaying Game and Doctor Who Card Game, so it's great to be able to bring him fully on board. I'm really looking forward to seeing what we produce together in the coming months!”

CEO, Dominic McDowall:
“At Cubicle 7 we're deeply committed to making some of the best looking games on store shelves. I know that as a gamer I'm hugely inspired by evocative game artwork, so it's important to me that our games look fantastic. It'll be awesome to have someone as talented as Sam bringing his work to the Cubicle 7 games we know and love.”

Sam Manley:
"I've had the pleasure of working with Cubicle 7 for some time, and it's always been great fun to contribute to their games. I'm very happy to be joining the team, and excited about the artwork I'll be creating."

The 22nd of September is International Hobbit Day, and at Cubicle 7 we're celebrating by breaking out our favourite story telling card game - Hobbit Tales!

We'll be sharing our #hobbittales stories all this week, and we'd love you to join in on twitter and Facebook.

Here's our first team member story, from our creative director Jon Hodgson:
"This was a real draw of cards that came up during a demo game at GenCon. I ran with it and started telling the story of The Hobbit.  The cards were incredibly fortuitous, and we made it through a (somewhat abridged) version of the whole story of Bilbo and his journey to The Lonely Mountain!"
